Russell Young Brings his Fantasies of the American Southwest & Hollywood to Audiences in NYC, Paris, and Art Basel Switzerland
Los Angeles, CA – British-American artist Russell Young launches his 2022 exhibition schedule with multiple exhibitions around the world from New York City to Paris to Art Basel, Switzerland.
After the success of his latest series, WEST, exhibiting in Los Angeles in 2021, as well as his much-coveted series Heroes + Heroines, exhibiting throughout 2019 and 2020, Young brings his signature diamond-dust silkscreen paintings to new audiences this year.
WEST examines the mythology of the “Wild West” and its cultural impact, engaging with imagery and issues far beyond the expectations of the genre. Heroes + Heroines looks past the darker side of excess and sets its sights on pure stardom with a cast of characters instantly recognizable for their embodiment of American fame. Together, these series strike at the core of Young’s artistic examinations of cultural icons, fame, and the souring of the American Dream.
“I’m living and painting on the edge of America. It’s the genius of Hollywood and the American Southwest that informs all of my creative visions.” – Russell Young
Young’s work is included in many prominent private and institutional collections including those of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, David Bowie, Drake, Angelina Jolie, David Hockney, Kayne West, Brad Pitt, and others, as well as The Getty Collection in Los Angeles and The White House Collection in Washington, D.C.
