Reflections from the Restaurant: artist Daniel Farrow’s new solo exhibition with Bantof in London
traces the road from addiction to sobriety

London, UK – Artist Daniel Farrow presents his new solo exhibition, Reflections from the Restaurant, with Bantof Restaurant in Soho, featuring new paintings that trace the road from addiction to sobriety. The exhibition is on view June 2 – September 2, 2025, with an opening reception on June 2nd.
Farrow’s work, expanding from pure abstraction to figuration to allusions of popular culture, channels turbulent personal histories into explorations of the transformative nature of art-making. The work in his previous exhibitions titled My Manic Mind— it first exhibited in 2023, followed by a highly attended second exhibition in 2024—was all admittedly created in altered states and noted for its manic and chaotic explorations of the self. The new work in Reflections from the Restaurant retains the same sense of range while exuding a more calming response, inviting viewers into contemplative emotional landscapes that explore the nature of healing, sobriety and trauma.
The exhibition is a candid window into Farrow’s personal life and the universal challenges of addiction and mental health, reflecting on his time spent working the restaurant industry where he struggled with alcoholism, drug abuse, manic depression and trauma before creating art, which led him to sobriety and healing. Within the context of larger conversations surrounding such topics, particularly in the restaurant industry, exemplified by towering figures like Anthony Bourdain and dramatized in shows like The Bear, Farrow’s exhibition invites an intimate understanding behind these complex realities.
“Reflections from the Restaurant draws on subconscious thoughts and feelings about the trauma I was experiencing during this turbulent period of my life. It also serves as catharsis, an expulsion of grief, a symbol of recovery, and that through healing has come reclamation.” – Daniel Farrow
As part of its commitment to supporting the arts, Bantof features a rotating exhibition programme that spans three floors of the venue. Its upcoming solo exhibition with Farrow offers an emotionally charged and visually compelling exploration that aligns with Bantof’s vision of celebrating bold, contemporary voices in art. His work resonates with the spirit of Soho: vibrant, expressive, and unafraid to provoke thought.

About Daniel Farrow
Daniel Farrow (b. 1994 in Norfolk, UK) is an artist whose work channels turbulent personal histories into explorations of the transformative nature of art-making.
Growing up in foster care, experiencing parental abuse and mental health challenges at a young age, Farrow started auditioning as an actor at the age of seventeen, pursuing various roles in film and television, before he eventually founded indie music label New Black Records, which worked with up-and-coming artists producing records and directing music videos. He then worked in the restaurant and hospitality industry, where he struggled with alcoholism and addiction, candid subjects that feature throughout his work. In 2022, Farrow suffered a breakdown in his mental health with multiple visits to the hospital after several suicide attempts and ongoing bouts of mania and depression, which led to him selling his restaurant and beginning to create artwork full-time.
Farrow’s early paintings and sculptures were overtly created in altered states and the work during this period is often noted for its manic and chaotic depictions of various mental states through abstraction and figuration. His practice eventually led to his sobriety, and this trajectory is the basis of much of his current work examining the healing process, the self and rebirth.
He lives and works in London, UK.
