Join Renowned Journalist Anna Maria Tremonti &
Artist Barbara Cole in a special conversation and exhibition at Bau-Xi Gallery

You are cordially invited to Surfacing, artist Barbara Cole’s latest exhibition aimed at dismantling stigmas of mental illness. This very special and personal show will also feature Cole in conversation with Anna Maria Tremonti (founding host of The Current, CBC Radio’s flagship current affairs program) on how her art has been instrumental in her personal quest for beauty and meaning in our world.

With elegant underwater photographs depicting women ascending an enigmatic body of water (representative of rising through turmoil), Cole’s intent in creating this work is to open a dialogue on the importance of survival and self-actualization through mental health. For those who often suffer silently and alone, Cole has created a space to come together while she herself, opens up about her battle with depression. Fueled by her triumph over adversity, her works are an ode to the countless individuals struggling with mental illness and act as a conduit to a community often overlooked. Cole has also partnered with Bell Let’s Talk and the Campaign to Change Direction, two distinguished organizations, to help further their initiatives in highlighting the accessibility to mental health resources

Surfacing has made its mark on cities internationally with exhibitions in Los Angeles, Montreal, and now Toronto. This standout exhibition is much more than an art show and it’s making an impact on communities all over the world with its important message and meaning.

For the purpose of our guest list, please include if you are a collector, media professional, or connected to either Barbara Cole or Bau-Xi Gallery. Thank you.
