Classical Revival: Ronen Tanchum’s living generative objects exist between painting and machine
Ronen Tanchum, Classical Revival
New York, NY – Artist and technologist Ronen Tanchum debuts Classical Revival, a generative, interactive body of work releasing both as physical interactive objects and digital editions on Art Blocks on April 16, 2026.
Classical Revival turns generative art into living objects, blurring the boundaries between painting and machine. The work emerges within a broader shift from static images to behavioral, system-based forms. Known for his exploration of technology, nature and human perception, Tanchum’s new generative series restructures classical visual language as a living computational form, Interaction is embedded within the system, where each gesture becomes part of its internal logic, preserving not the image itself but its underlying logic. Each work exists as a system that evolves continuously over time, generating an ongoing sequence of states rather than a fixed composition. Interaction becomes part of the work itself, as each gesture reshapes the system in real time, introducing new elements into ever-evolving compositions. No two states are ever the same as each work remains in perpetual transformation. The images allude to classical interpretations of nature that, though produced through generative systems, ultimately emerge from human creativity and interaction, revealing our enduring relationship with nature in an age of accelerating technology.
The release includes 5 physical interactive objects and 100 digital editions on Art Blocks, with claimable prints. What is collected is not a static image, but a generative system, each output representing a moment within an ongoing process. The first physical edition has already been acquired by the The NODE Foundation (Micky & Becky Collection), marking an early institutional recognition of the project’s significance.
Classical Revival is built using real-time generative systems and GPU-accelerated computation, designed to operate fluidly across both physical and digital environments. This infrastructure enables continuous evolution, ensuring that the work exists not as a static artifact, but as a persistent, living structure.
Tanchum’s artistic practice spans generative systems, AI, immersive environments and interactive experience, informed by a career in visual effects, computational design, and in his role as the founder of Phenomena Labs. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Art Basel Miami, and Expo 2020 Dubai, and recently at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting, where culture and creative imagination were placed at the centre of global exchange.

About Ronen Tanchum
Ronen Tanchum is a contemporary artist working with generative systems, immersive environments, and interactive technologies. His background combines fine art, computational design, software development, and 3D simulation, including contributions to major film and media productions.
He is the founder of Phenomena Labs, a creative studio producing large-scale installations, digital commissions, and generative artworks across both physical and virtual spaces.
Tanchum’s projects use robotics, artificial intelligence, sensors, and real-time algorithms to construct unfolding perceptual environments. His work moves between digital and physical realms, treating technology as material to surface behavioral patterns, environmental systems, and emotional responses. Built using real-time, GPU-accelerated generative systems designed for continuous operation.
He collaborates with museums, technology platforms, and cultural institutions to develop site-specific installations that invite reflection, interaction, and presence. He leads multidisciplinary teams in creating artworks that reshape our understanding of nature, machines, and human experience. He also lectures on generative aesthetics, digital ethics, and the role of artists in shaping technological culture.
His work has been exhibited internationally at the World Economic Forum, the Tel Aviv Museum Of Art, Art Basel Miami, Expo 2020 Dubai, Galerie Met Berlin, and Artblocks Marfa. It has been featured in VICE, Colossal, Hyperallergic, and Creative Applications, spanning interactive ecosystems, AI-generated imagery, large-scale projections, and public interventions.
