The launch of the exclusive collection features hand-crafted pouches and totes from the legendary atelier
with the artist’s original hand-painted designs
Paris, FR – Artist and designer Laurie Victor Kay announces the launch of her new handbag collection in collaboration with Desmalter Paris, featuring limited edition designs on hand-crafted, hand-painted pouches and tote bags.
What began as a chance meeting in Paris has since turned into a transatlantic collaboration between artists and artisans. Drawing from a rich, nearly 250 year history of exquisite craftsmanship, each piece is hand-painted by Desmalter Paris with designs created by Laurie Victor Kay. Each design is inspired by timeless elegance, culture and the artist’s own artwork and international photography.
Laurie Victor Kay’s passion for design blurs the lines between fashion, photography, painting, installation, as well as digital mediums to address constructed imagination, idealization and a sense of the surreal. Her various bodies of work range from photographic series that reimagine and abstract the everyday to autobiographical mixed-media series that examine the psyche, vulnerability and contemporary culture.
“I’m on the constant search for uniquely made items and believe that creative expression is so important. This collaboration with Desmalter Paris makes real a dream I’ve had for a long time: to bring others into a world designed with wonder and crafted with history.” – Laurie Victor Kay
