DREAM LOGIC

Watcher with Nightcap, 2022, by Elisa Rossi

Los Angeles, CA – Wienholt Projects is pleased to announce Dream Logic, a group exhibition at the Baxter Lemoyne Estate, featuring works by artists Elisa Rossi, Ari Salka, Ben Quinn, Cassidy Putnam, and JPW3. Opening Saturday, July 19th, from 4 to 8pm, Dream Logic will be on view through September 20th in Elysian Heights. Please RSVP for address.

Unlike conventional logic, Dream Logic resists chronology, causality, or fixed meaning, instead embracing ambiguity, metaphor, and sudden shifts. Dream Logic centers five artists whose works operate outside of language, prioritizing atmosphere over narrative coherence. Their paintings and drawings remind us of the nonlinear, irrational, and emotionally driven way dreams unfold—full of recurring symbols, colors that fluidly shapeshift, and visual “interruptions” that mimic memory lapses or mental pivots. Figures or objects may seem familiar, yet behave unnaturally or defy physical rules. In their works, you might meet someone, or something, you vaguely recognize from a dream or fantasy—like a face you recall, but can’t quite place whether it belonged to a childhood classmate or an imaginary friend.

Stay tuned for more details on a Dream Logic-themed reading event curated by Ari Salka in August.

About the Baxter-Lemoyne Estate:

Steeped in Los Angeles history, the Baxter-Lemoyne Estate has housed cultural figures such as silent film director and cinematographer Jorge Stahl and his son Jorge Stahl Jr., film producer and entertainment executive Moctesuma Esparza, and Delicious Vinyl founder Matt Dike. Lane Dike, the estate’s current resident and Matt Dike’s brother, assisted Matt with his creative ventures through the years and ran the Lower Draw gallery in the Lower East Side of New York before relocating to Los Angeles. Lane is a painter and sculptor with a focus on specific fresco and plastering techniques.

Dream Logic, installed throughout the estate, draws on its mystic charm as a backdrop for encounters with the otherworldly and the half-remembered.

About Elisa Rossi:

Elisa Rossi was born and raised in Carpi, Italy and worked in public affairs in Belgrade, Berlin and Brussels before transitioning to a full-time artist. Her compositions fluctuate between figuration and abstraction, incorporating symbolic storytelling and subconscious mark-making to address themes of emotional alchemy, divine feminine guardianship, and cosmic transformation. Her practice is partly informed by the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique and her psychological research into the writings of Carl Jung and James Hillman, and contains reverberations of Astro-expressionism, transcendentalism, and metaphysical art. Rooted in a deep sense of soul memory and expansive optimism, Rossi’s artworks communicate an unabashed embrace of the evolution of consciousness at a collective level.

Rossi has shown at Wonzimer Gallery LA, Superchief NY, and Van Der Plas Gallery NY, among others. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.

About Wienholt Projects

Aubrie Wienholt founded Wienholt Projects in 2023, following a 10+ year history of working with artists, galleries, museums, and other institutions. Wienholt Projects is committed to producing nontraditional exhibitions of works that interrogate and forward the field of art. Drawing from the experience of working with artists in an alternative capacity through PR for Artists, Wienholt’s creative agency and art house founded in 2015, Wienholt Projects is grounded in a unique understanding of artists’ holistic roles in society.

In October 2023, Wienholt Projects co-produced INTERREALITY with bitforms gallery, a 35-artist pop-up exhibition curated by former Night Gallery co-founder Mieke Marple including works by Mark Flood, JPW3, Refik Anadol, Cindy Phenix, Christine Tien Wang and Daniel Canogar, among others. Interreality later partnered with ARSNL on programming during Frieze week 2024, including performances by Nadya Tolokonnikova and Millie Brown, panels with Sarah Thornton, Britt Salvesen, Alex Estorick and more.

Wienholt Projects has continued to produce pop-up exhibitions in Los Angeles, such as California Love (curated by Preston Douglas Boyer) and Feldsott: My Responsibility. In 2025, Wienholt Projects participated in the inaugural High Desert Art Fair in Pioneertown, CA.
