Los Angeles, CA – Artist Patrick John Stuver donates four paintings to C5LA as part of the non-profit organization’s annual gala Urban Campfire at Candela La Brea on Thursday, October 24th, 6 – 9 pm.
A multimedia artist whose work spans painting, drawing, and sculpture, Stuver’s paintings are uniquely textural. Incorporating materials like sawdust, packing materials, and studio refuse, Stuver builds thick layers of paint, forming a complex terrain on the surface of each painting that encourages a deeper viewing experience. The four paintings donated to the gala resemble abstractions of nature’s topographics, emphasizing our relationship with texture, color, and the natural world.
Stuver’s abstract works are inspired by nature and the outdoors where he spends much of his time creating, which is why he’s passionate about C5LA, who promotes leadership and its programming for under-resourced youth through outdoor adventures.
C5LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Los Angeles youth to become the next generation of leaders. Through mentorship, leadership development, and college readiness programs, C5LA is transforming lives and creating opportunities for young people to thrive. The Urban Campfire gala event is a celebration of the lives C5LA has impacted and an opportunity to raise vital funds to continue supporting their mission.

About Patrick John Stuver
Patrick John Stuver’s professional background is in marketing and technology, serving as a major contributor to the creation and growth of Everbridge. His success inspired him to repurpose his idea-generating skills into something lasting, appreciated and permanent. While working for Everbridge, Stuver maintained a robust experimental art practice. Utilizing scavenged wood and clay he dug from lakesides, Stuver created hundreds of sculptures, many of which he placed and left outdoors in various neighborhoods in Alabama, New York, Texas and Southern California. He also created intricate “talismans” out of found objects, gifting them to friends and strangers. Although many of his early sculptures have been lost or abandoned, they led him to his current artmaking practice. Forgoing a formal art school education and the boundaries it may enforce, Stuver instead adopts the mantle of the untrained artist and embarks on a unique personal relationship with his materials and imagery.
